For this project, our staff determined all of the system requirements, modeled and developed the backend database, laid out all development tasks, and performed 100% of the application development. The resulting application will be used by the end client to input, manage, and report on tree failure information across the country.
With the decision tree nature of this project (If the user answers A proceed on path 1, or if the user answers B proceed on path 2), it is well suited for the layered form approach available with .NET web forms. The user will have the appearance of interacting with several different pages of questions, while actually only one web form will be walking them through the data gathering process.
By using the .NET technology, the application's code will be streamlined and the database will remain "clutter-free". The overall effect for the Forest Service will be a decrease in maintenance costs and better data collection, information presentation, and user interaction for their end users. |
